General and Aviation English Courses
General English courses are truly useful for students wishing to improve their English language skills.
These courses are designed to give you the confidence to communicate effectively in real-life situations. You will develop your understanding of grammar, improving pronunciation and increasing vocabulary. The course provides a balanced program, focusing on the four main aspects of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking. A variety of modern and specialized material is used across various learning platforms to encourage student participation and interaction.
Entry Criteria: There are courses for all levels of ability, from Elementary to Advanced level.
Aviation English Courses aim to provide students with the necessary English language skills in order to operate safely and effectively in an aviation environment, and to reach level 4 or above in an ICAO language proficiency assessment. Operational air traffic controllers and pilots are required to reach and maintain an ICAO level 4 and above.
The ICAO rating scale contains the following six level descriptors: Level 6: Expert, Level 5: Extended, Level 4: Operational, Levels 1 – 3: Non-operational. Each level consists of the following language proficiency components: pronunciation, structure, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension and interactions. Training focuses on the specific skills described in the ICAO level 4 language profile.
Entry Criteria: Entrants require an English language level of Pre-Intermediate (ICAO level 2) and above.
The test of English Language Proficiency for Aeronautical Communication (ELPAC) is designed to help the Air Navigation Service Providers, Aircraft Operators, National Supervisory Authorities and Training Organisations meet the ICAO language proficiency requirements.
ELPAC is a test of English in aeronautical communication. It is designed for operational air traffic controllers and pilots and reflects the range of tasks undertaken in air traffic control and pilot communications.
ELPAC test is currently the only language proficiency test fully endorsed by ICAO. The focus of the test is on language proficiency, not operational procedures.
ELPAC can support many organisations in meeting the ICAO language proficiency requirements. The implementation model of ELPAC is attractive in that it is delivered locally by operational experts and language experts from our organisation. As a result, ELPAC can support an organisation in reaching the required standards.
